Blood Transfusion: Letter of Understanding
by defender of truth inhttp://ajwrb.org/science/blood-transfusion-letter-of-understanding.
"every parent among jehovahs witnesses worried about how local watchtower appointed elders will respond to letting their child have blood transfusion without opposing it should download this letter of understanding and be ready to hand a copy to them.
then ask those elders to leave them (the parents) and doctors alone to concentrate on the childs best interests.".

"In fact, Defender of Truth having all of your pointed references too, claims that he does not know either."
Maybe because I misunderstood your vaguely worded questions..
1. Do you know for a fact that Watchtower drafted any part of the Letter of Understanding posted on this thread?
2. Do you know for a fact that Watchtower (appointees) asks for the LOU posted on this thread in connection with medical treatment?
First question was ridiculous, since when has it been claimed that the Watchtower society drafted this letter?
Second question, I thought you meant do the Hlc request this letter from the Watchtower, which has not been stated anywhere as far as I have seen.
If in the first question you meant Watchtower appointed men, my reply would be yes.
If in the second question you meant do they ask the hospital whether the lou is in place, my reply is yes. Marvin has cleared it up now, it seems.

The Watchtower are Right About Blood...
by cofty in... but, they fail to take note of one important detail.. i believe that if we are going to have any chance of reasoning with a jw about blood, this is the place we need to begin.. don't try to convince them that it was only a dietary law.
it wasn't, and they will never go along with it.. don't tell them that saving a life is more important than obeying a law, even a seemingly trivial one.
they take pride in obedience.

Petition to Revoke Scientology's Tax Exempt Status
by ABibleStudent infyi, if you feel that scientology's tax-exempt status should be revoked, you can sign a white house petition to revoke its tax-exempt status at https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/revoke-scientologys-tax-exempt-status.. i signed the petition even though i have mixed feelings about this petition.
i would prefer that dangerous cults like scientology be reformed by suspending its tax-exempt status until it makes needed changes and i do not like targeting a specific organization when the whole system should be changed.
on the other hand this type of action may help to promote debate about revising the tax codes in the us.. i do prefer revising the tax code like i wrote about in revise tax code to protect children from sexual abuse .. peace be with you and everyone, who you love,.

Yes, I did misunderstand that part you quoted, I apologise for that.
Your reasoning still proves nothing except what we already know, that neither the watchtower nor the parents are allowing blood transfusions, and they have no authority to prevent it from happening.
1) No, but I never claimed they did. (Hlc's draft these kind of legal documents, that's part of their work.)
2) No, and I never claimed they had.
All I do know is that the hlc's will follow guidance from the watchtower when they act, so either the watchtower allows the hlc's to draft these documents, or the hlc's keep it private and the watchtower is not informed or consulted.
Now I have questions for you:
Why are the parents asked to sign the document? Why do the hospital sign the document?
There has to be a benefit on the hospitals part, otherwise why would they make the concession? Is it so the parents do not cause trouble? Does coming to this understanding make things easier in any way for the hospital?

Smiddy, they only 'won' in that they don't have to pay the the punitive damages.
Because they are usually paid in excess of the plaintiff's provable injuries, punitive damages are awarded only in special cases, usually under tort law, where the defendant's conduct was egregiously insidious.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punitive_damages
The Watchtower was still found GUILTY of negligence in this case.
Well done to Candace and Rick Simons!! :)

Very well written letter. Have you had a look at this thread? He wants their tax exempt status taken away, just like we do with the Watchtower..
